LTC Harlow Paul, 90, USA retired, died April 29,2010 in El Paso.
Married Ruth Mellor almost 67 years ago. He was drafted into the army in 1941, and saw service in Germany, screening German prisoners of war, His war experience and a later assignment to Germany cemented his love for Germans and Germany That means, of course, that he loved a good German beer. He attained the rank of Major prior to his discharge in 1946. He joined the reserves and was called back to duty in 1951 at the start of the Korean conflict, and spent the next 15 years on assignments in Asia, Europe and the United States. He retired in 1965 as LTC.
After reirement he continued working, first at White Sands Missile Range (for the Navy, no less) then at Ft. Bliss and ended his career in Civil Service at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. His second retirement was in 1982. He was a member and Past Master of the Wallace Hughston Masonic Lodge 1393 AF & AM. He was also a member of Wallace Hughston Lodge #1100 Order of the Eastern Star.
He was an active member of the Retired Officer's Association, the 43rd Infantry Division Veterans Association and MOWW.
He was an active and long time member of All Saints Episcopal Church, serving for several years as the Senior Warden and as a member of the vestry.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, his children Jan Brissette and her husband Leonard of Austin, TX, Robbie Paul and her husband Allen Malloy of El Paso, Douglas Paul of Reno, NV and his granddaughter Josalyn Benson of Phoenix, AZ
James E Gregan Lt. Col. James E. Gregan, retired USAF, passed away on March 20, 2010 at the Ambrosio Guillon Texas State Veterans Home in El Paso, Texas at the age of 78. Jim was a retired Davis County Prosecutor in Utah where he received his Law degree after retiring from 32 years of active service with the United States Air Force as a fighter pilot. After moving to El Paso in 1996, he was very active and held several offices with the military organizations NAUS, MOOA , and the Daedalians as well as being a member of the Texas Bar Assoc. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathe M. Gregan, his daughter, Kathe G. Walker, two sons, James R. Gregan and Steven J. Gregan, their spouses, Victor Walker, Amy Gregan, Karen Gregan and 3 grandchildren, April Brown, Robin Walker and Nicholas Gregan. Jim will be dearly missed by his family and friends around the world. Graveside services will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 2:30 Thursday, Mar 25,2010. James W Bogart
LTC James W. Bogart, 94, died on 2 January 2010 and was buried at the FT Bliss Cemetary on 6 January 2010. He was a WWII veteran. LTC Bogart was a member of the El Paso Chapter, MOAA and also a member of the El Paso Chapter, MOWW (Military Order of the World Wars). He is survived by two children, a son and daughter. No other information is available.
Helen Vaughan Helen Vennett Vaughan, 85, passed away on November 4, 2009. Helen was born in New Haven, Connecticut. After World War II she worked at General MacArthur's Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan where she met and fell in love with Lt. Bill Vaughan. They married in Tokyo and after assignments in Big Delta, Alaska and Ft. Knox, Kentucky they settled in El Paso, Texas in 1959 where they lived for the rest of their lives. Helen Vaughan was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma who will be dearly missed by all. Helen was pre-deceased by her husband Bill Vaughan in 2002 and granddaughter Mandy Grubelnik in 2000.She is survived by her sons; Michael Vaughan and his wife Karen, Patrick Vaughan and his wife Leigh; her daughters Katy Williams and her husband Bruce, Cory Holstein and her husband Steve, Eileen Guthrie and her husband Steve; her sister Anne Welsh and brother Mike Vennett; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2009 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Martin Funeral Home West. Funeral Mass was held on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 11:30 AM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1551 Belvidere. Interment was at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
